Newfoundland and Labrador Town Hall set for Sept. 17

St. John’s – The Baking Association of Canada will host a Newfoundland & Labrador Town Hall Bakers Gathering & Education Sessions on Sept. 17 at the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s.

This exciting BAC event on Canada’s east coast will provide bakers with an introduction to the Baking Association of Canada, along with education sessions on the building blocks of baking: flour, dough improvers and conditioners and yeast.

The Town Hall is presented at no charge to bakeries in partnership with Food and Beverage Canada and the College of the North Atlantic.

Learn about BAC membership and its benefits while sharing your delicious baked goods (optional) and mingling.

We encourage you to bring some of your delicious baked creations to share!

The agenda will include:

  • Introduction to the BAC
  • Flour 101 and Q&A: We will be talking about what wheat is planted and harvested to create different flour types.
  • Dough Conditioners/Dough Improvers 101 and Q&A: We will discuss what functional ingredients are and why they are important to the baking industry.
  • Lunch – sandwiches and snacks will be provided
  • Yeast 101 and Q&A: We will how yeast is made and where it applies in baking and food application.
  • Town Hall Gathering and group discussion
